I thought Mike Staff Productions was a DJ company. Why would I hire a DJ to be my wedding photographer?
We know that it’s highly unlikely one person can be the best at more than one craft. So, we hired the award winning Wally Spice, 2007 – 2008 President of the Detroit Professional Photographers Association, to come onboard to run our photography division.
So, we would never consider asking one of our world-class DJs to be your photographer. However, we will ask one of our world-class, award-winning photographers!
PS: One look at our photographic work and you'll immediately notice that they are done by gifted professionals. We don't hire rookies … period!
How can your prices be so much less expensive than your peers? What gives?
This is a reasonable question. If you’re an economics major you’ll be familiar with the concept of "economies of scope (and scale)". Simply put, when you can spread your fixed costs of doing business over 3 departments, you can pass along the savings to your clients. Unlike individual DJs, Photographers or Videographers, we absorb the overhead expenses one time for 3 services.
In addition, we’re big on systems and fine tuning all that we do. The Japanese call this “Kaizen” – the art of constant improvement. You benefit and so do we when things are more efficient. So… the long and short of it is … because of our "one-stop service provider" philosophy, we can pass the savings on to you.
Can I choose my photographer?
Absolutely. Instead of someone else telling you who would be the best photographer for you on your wedding day, Mike Staff Productions respects your desire to choose. Though every photographer on our staff has been through the same 40 point certification process, there might be something about one that seems to feel better to you than another. So … "Yes" you can always choose from our available photographers.
What is your style? Are you photojournalistic?
Photojournalism is usually our mode of operation 80% of the time. We get the “un-posed” fully natural pictures of you, your family and friends. The other 20% of the pictures are some traditional shots, family photos etc. that are posed. We’ve learned from experience that this mixture is the "sweet-spot" necessary to meet our client’s expectations. Of course, if you feel as if you would like more or less of one style, we'll happily accommodate you.
How many pictures will you take at my wedding?
Every world class photographer knows that the best shot is always the result of taking many shots. So, through the benefit of digital photography we "go to town" making sure you’ll have between 500 – 1500 gorgeous pictures of your wedding day (depending on the package you choose).
How many images will appear in my finished album?
Every album we design is custom made for each individual bride, so there is no way to know exactly how many images will appear on each page of YOUR finished album. An average of 3 images per side is a close place to begin estimating, though. Some pages may only feature one image, while other pages may be collages consisting of 8-12.
Can I get high resolution digital files (on DVD) of my photos so I can print them myself or have them printed elsewhere?
How could you possibly justify paying for photography and not own all of your pictures that you paid for? At Mike Staff Productions you'll get them all … no limitations, no restrictions and the copyrights to personally enjoy all of your photographs. Any other way just seems wrong.
How long will it take until I can view my wedding pictures?
Within 2 weeks after your wedding, your design specialist will call you to let you know your images are ready to be viewed on our website via a personal password. You will then be free to choose the images that you would like to appear in your album.
How long will it take to receive my finished album?
We are tired of hearing the horror stories about how photographers will take 4 -8 months to complete their client's albums. At Mike Staff Productions, most albums are completed within 2 months of choosing your favorites.
How much input will I have on my album?
Each album we create is personally designed for you. Your Design Specialist will walk you through the entire design process. No need to get overwhelmed. Have as much or as little input as you would like.
How can I see your work and learn about your packages?
The very best way to learn about our photographer offerings is to schedule a no-pressure appointment in our comfortable offices in Troy. This way you can choose the photographer that best suits your personality; view actual albums of their work; and learn about the packages that would work best for you and your budget.
