In all candor, "good" is pretty easy to achieve.  So we reach higher.   Mike Staff Productions' goal is to re-define the wedding experience for couples throughout Michigan. We know that there are other companies that are capable of doing "good work".  That has always been a target Mike Staff Productions has avoided, because as we paraphrase Jim Collins in his best-selling book Good to Great,

We hire only the very best people … so you can too!

There is no substitute for EXPERIENCE ...

We find it insulting, and you should, too … when wedding service companies run Help Wanted ads like these …. (These are quoted from actual ads) …

"…. Will train if you love music and have your own car …"  

This was from a Michigan DJ company who claims to offer "Top Shelf Professionalism" and be "Wedding Specialists".   Personally, we think it takes more than car ownership to be a specialist at something.

"… looking for people willing to work weekends...no experience needed."

This was from a well-known Detroit area wedding photography studio that claims to employ the most award winning photographers in the industry."    Hmmm?   Wouldn't you think it would take more than an open social calendar to win an award?

"… if you love films and want to create some … we'll teach you."

This is from a local wedding videographer looking for camera operators.  I guess they think that just because an applicant loves movies that they'll naturally be good at producing them.

Hiring inexperienced wedding vendors is the # 1 reason you'll be disappointed on your wedding day.

Mike Staff Productions does NOT hire rookies …EVER!   On average, our DJs have 13 years professional experience DJing wedding receptions.  Our photographers have an average of 11 years photographing weddings and our videographers average 9 years producing quality wedding videos.   

Talent (n: ta-lent: an unusually high aptitude or ability) …

Of course, just because someone has experience at something, doesn't mean they are actually good at it!   Bill Ford Sr., for example, has experience owning a professional football team (The Lions … ugh!) but that doesn't mean he's very good at it!

Mike Staff Productions team members are recognized leaders in their respected fields:

• Our roster of DJs includes local radio & TV personalities; have produced Grammy nominated CDs and have followings as popular international club DJs.

• Our Photographers include the 2007- 2008 President of Detroit Professional Photography Association and all are regularly published in local and national bridal magazines. 

• The resumes of our videographers include running camera for the Superbowl, World Series, Stanley Cup Finals and NBA Championships (The "Big 4" in professional sports broadcasting); have shot footage for the Oprah Winfrey Show, Today Show and multiple other national broadcasts; and have won such awards as the Hermes Creative Award and The Aegis Video and Film Award for producing outstanding wedding videos. 

These are not accomplishments that come easy.  It is only though years of experience & sacrifice, combined with natural God-given gifts, does one become an actual expert in their field.

A Heart to Serve – Something you can't teach

Having a genuine heart to serve is the "something extra" that all of our team members must posses.  Mike Staff Productions is truly service minded!  Just because someone knows what they are doing and are naturally good at it doesn’t mean they will make you happy.  The last thing you want on your wedding day is a prima donna who acts like you are lucky to "have them".

We have declined to bring in some exceptionally talented wedding professionals because they lacked the heart to really serve others.    Mike Staff Productions doesn't care how good someone is at their job if they don't care about their clients … and if they don't have a burning desire to satisfy you.

Mike Staff Productions team members endure the absolute toughest screening process in the wedding industry.    Statistically, we only bring on about 1 in 14 applicants that make it to the interview process (while only interviewing experienced professionals).   Furthermore, we only keep people that continuously perform with excellence.  In fact, any DJ, Photographer or Videographer that has an overall client satisfaction rating under a 9 (on a 10 scale ) is let go.  Some have said this policy is a bit strict, however who would YOU rather hire for your wedding … an 7.5 or a 10?   Exactly!

We only want the very best because you only want the very best.  It's that easy.
