Children In Haiti
In 2009, a year before the devastating earthquakes, we became aware of the plight of the Haitian people. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere and is plagued with unimaginable poverty, disease and obscene government corruption. Over 80% of the population lives in poverty unknown in the U.S. And of course, it’s the children that suffer the most.
In light of this, Mike Staff Productions began supporting the Haitian School Feeding Program. In Haiti they say, “an empty stomach has no ears”. Many children don’t receive the minimum nutrition they need to simply function on a daily basis. With little to no food in their stomachs, many Haitian students have a very difficult time focusing on their studies and retaining information.
We partnered with a world-class organization called Bright Hope. We supply the necessary funds and they provide the local infrastructure to ensure that the help would reach the children that needed it most. Having “boots on the ground” in Haiti that we communicate with often, keeps us intimately aware of the needs and helps us help the locals improve their conditions.
While we get regular updates from Haiti, volunteers from Mike Staff Productions travel to Haiti regularly to personally serve these children. From helping to facilitate the purchase & delivery of mattresses for orphans, to simply offering hugs, attention & play to the precious children of Haiti … we feel called to serve in this impoverished nation.
