While an engagement session is a great opportunity to get some playful images of you and your finance, it also lets you practice loosening up so you can be yourself around your photographer. This is a great opportunity to share your creative vision, practice some fun poses, and get ready for close-ups on your big day!

Best of all, an engagement session is an expression of your personality. Choose a location that tells something about the two of you. First dates, proposals, favorite hang outs, all of these can make great spots for the engagement shoot. Pick a theme to your session, choose a season you love, or let your photographer guide you through the choices. The engagement session is all about the two of you.

Location, Location, Location

There are many great locations for your engagement sessions. Think about what “feel” you would like your images to have. Would you like a scenic park or an urban location? Is there somewhere special to you - maybe where you met or got engaged? Of course, if you have trouble deciding, your photographer will be happy to suggest a location.

What to wear

Choose simple patterns or solid colors that complement each other. If one of you will be wearing a pattern, we recommend the other wear a solid. Medium to dark shades create a timeless look. Soft shades enhance lighter backgrounds. Long-sleeved shirts are best since short sleeves can be distracting and sleeveless tops can look too casual. If you want to wear a sleeveless shirt, bring a sweater or jacket for some of the images. Select small accessories that do not detract, such as simple earrings, pins and necklaces.
