Our Real Detroit Wedding: July 28, 2018

We are so happy with the services we had from Mike Staff Productions! Both our videographer and DJ were so professional and friendly to work with. It was really convenient having Mike Staff provide both services. We would absolutely recommend Mike Staff to anyone looking for a DJ or videographer! – Happy Bride, Ali

Our Love Story

“Eric and I started dating at MSU in 2011. One of our first dates was in the Horticulture Gardens on campus. One Friday afternoon in April 2017 we were going up north and we were going to pick up his twin brother (and future Best Man) from vet school on the way up. He said he wanted us to take graduation photos of him in the garden before we went. So when we got out of the car and started walking around the garden to find Ryan that’s when he proposed. At first I didn’t realize it was a set up so I reacted slower than Eric would have liked! I even said “Are you serious?!” I was in total shock because I thought he was going to do it on Mackinac Island a few weeks later! When we got up north, we celebrated with champagne with his family.”

Our Wedding Video

“We knew we would want to be able to relive the best day of our lives again and again. So many people we talked to said that not getting a video was the biggest regret they had about their wedding and we did not want to make the same mistake! Other people said that getting a video was the best thing they did. Although we savored every moment, the day of our wedding went by so fast. From the speeches and vows to the dancing and games, we wanted to remember every little bit.

Getting to hear the voices of our Best Man, Maid of Honor, and Officiant (the Bride’s brother) made it a really special experience to watch. Of course, it’s wonderful to hear our vows again too. We also just love seeing how happy everyone is. It truly was the happiest day of our lives and to get to watch it over and over again brings us so much joy.”

Our Wedding DJ

“Our first dance was to L.O.V.E by Nat King Cole—a song that has been special to us since early in our relationship. There have been countless nights where we would be lounging around the house and Eric would play that song and stand up to ask me to dance, making a boring night special. It was only natural to have that be our first dance.

Eric and his mom finished their special dance together doing a few MSU cheers and ended with the MSU fight song. DJ Joe then led into “I Gotta Feeling” by The Black Eyed Peas and layered a variety of TV calls from famous MSU football plays. It got everyone totally hyped and it was a perfect segue from the Mother-Son dance. It completely set the tone for a night of energized dancing.

For the rest of the night, DJ Joe kept the party alive. He read the crowd so well and at the end of the night, no one wanted it to be over!”

OUR WEDDING MEMORIES

“We mostly just wanted it to be a fun party! We only wanted people there who were really important to us, so our total guest list was around 90 people. It was important to have good food and drinks and great music—and we got exactly that! We also wanted to make sure guests had options for celebrating instead of being tied down to one banquet hall. We wanted lawn games available and a lot of natural lighting. So it worked out perfect when we chose the MSU Horticulture Gardens for our ceremony and reception. We had the dancing outside under a canopy tent and the dinner was held inside the greenhouse. Our guests were able to enjoy the spacious garden from before the ceremony to the end of the night.

Dancing all night with our friends and family was definitely one of our favorite parts. We just felt pure bliss having so much fun with all of the special people in our lives. As many of our friends and family have gotten older and moved to different parts of the country and world, it was even more meaningful to have them all in the same place at the same time.”

Thank you, Ali and Eric! It was an honor to work with you!
